vet diagnostic imaging- radiology x-ray
In 2015 we have invested in the latest digital xray facilities with a Agfa CR 30-X digital xray processor and a high frequency Nova 30Kw Xray generator to give excellent x-ray detail. The provision of a Nova tilting x-ray table makes taking myelogram radiographs uncomplicated.
Our Radiology (X-ray) facilities aid our Veterinary Surgeons to visualise the internal organs and bones of our patients allowing us to quickly make the best treatment choices for your pet.
Digital xray images may be sent and received by email if necessary for referrals to our clinic for surgery.
Radiograph of a dog, which was repeatedly vomiting. A sock was removed surgically from the gut at surgery which was causing a life threatening bowel obstruction. This dog then fully recovered.
Dogs that suffer trauma to their chest can frequently have severe difficulty breathing. A quick x-ray can show us the lungs are collapsed due to a condition called Pneumothorax. A chest drain can be inserted allowing the dog to recover rapidly.
A x-ray of this dogs hips shows severe right hip dysplasia and thickening of the femur.
Compare this to the other left hip, which is less severely affected.
Hip dysplasia is a common disease affecting many breeds of dogs in Northern Ireland, especially Labradors, Retrievers, German Shepherd Dogs and other large breeds.
DENTAL CASSETTE FOR DIGITAL DENTAL & NASAL RADIOGRAPHS
New for Agfa CR 30-X
Agfa have developed a dental cassette for their CR 30X digital processor. The dental
cassette contains a range of intra oral plates. The intra oral plates are easy to use, and can be put into a plastic sleeve and inserted into the animal’s mouth. Once the exposure is taken, the intra oral plates are simply mounted in the cassette and developed in 60 seconds, producing high definition dental and nasal images. Dental pathology can be identified at an early stage to improve dental health. With an estimated 25% to 30% of anaesthetics in small animals carried out for dental problems the ability to accurately detect periodontal disease at an early stage has major benefits for animal health and welfare. The range of plate sizes enables dental imaging from rabbits to Great Danes to be carried out quickly and efficiently. Multiple images can be developed
in 1 simple process.
TILTING XRAY TABLE FOR SPINAL MYELOGRAM RADIOGRAPHS
Having the only tilting table configuration specifically built for veterinary radiography enables us to maintain the primary beam at a 90 degree angle to the plate whilst taking myelography images. The provision of a Nova tilting x-ray table makes taking spinal myelogram radiographs uncomplicated.
“The images are very clear... and the speed is so fast:
I can X-ray a dog, and by the time I take it out of the
X-ray room the images are ready.”
AGFA DIGITAL XRAY
Together the Agfa CR 30-X digital xray processor and a high frequency Nova 30Kw Xray generator give excellent x-ray detail.
