Myleography

In order to locate the site of spinal cord compression we can refer your dog to Ewing to perform a specialist x-ray technique called myelography which is carried out under general anaesthesia– this involves carefully injecting a clear sterile solution into the space along side the spinal cord. This solution runs by gravity along the spinal cord and stops or deviates at the site of the problem, allowing us to know where exactly to surgically relieve the compression on the spinal cord.

In 2015 we have invested in the latest digital xray facilities with a Agfa CR 30-X digital xray processor and a high frequency Nova 30Kw Xray generator to give excellent x-ray detail. The provision of a Nova tilting x-ray table makes taking myelogram radiographs uncomplicated.

Our Radiology (X-ray) facilities aid our Veterinary Surgeons to visualise the spinal column and bones of our patients allowing us to quickly make the best treatment choices for your pet.

Digital xray images may be sent and received by email if necessary for referrals to our clinic for surgery.
